Liechtenstein Gorge & Zell am See Tour

The Liechtensteinklamm & Zell am See Tour combines impressive nature with alpine scenery.
Deep gorges, thundering waterfalls, and an idyllic mountain lake make this excursion particularly varied. The Liechtenstein Gorge, located near St. Johann im Pongau about 50 km south of Salzburg, Austria, is one of the longest and deepest ravines in the Alps, measuring 4,000 meters long and up to 300 meters deep. Over millennia, the powerful Grossarler Ache stream carved this natural spectacle, creating towering rock walls that form a narrow, mystical atmosphere. The gorge is renowned for its lush green, moss-covered stones and vibrant scenery, making it one of the most impressive gorges in the Alps. Along the accessible path, a viewing platform awaits at the end, offering a breathtaking view of a mighty 49-meter-high waterfall. On sunny days, the waterfall creates beautiful rainbows in the spray, adding to the unforgettable experience for the whole family. JoyPlus offers this tour as a private chauffeur-driven tour. You travel without other guests, at a relaxed pace and with personal assistance. This allows you to experience nature and the countryside in a relaxed and well-organized way.

Tour description

The tour first leads to the Liechtenstein Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in the Alps.

Secured wooden walkways allow you to walk safely through narrow rock faces and along powerful waterfalls. The Liechtenstein Gorge is located near St. Johann im Pongau, at the entrance to the Grossarl valley, about 50 km south of Salzburg, Austria. The gorge is easily accessible by car, with free parking available near the gorge entrance, or by public transport from St. Johann im Pongau using Citybus line 52 to the Plankenauwirt bus stop, followed by a 30-40 minute walk. Both the entrance and gorge entrance are well-marked, with amenities such as restaurants and restrooms nearby. The course of the hike follows the same path in both directions, leading visitors along the dramatic gorge to a viewing platform at the end, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of a 49-meter-high waterfall.

The tour then continues to Zell am See. There is time for a walk along the lakeside promenade, a coffee break or a short visit to the old town. The combination of exercise and relaxation makes this tour particularly balanced.
